LUGA - Luxembourg Urban Garden invites the public to a conference on the history of the potato in Luxembourg as part of its preliminary program semer en 2023, récolter en 2025 (sow in 2023, harvest in 2025). This conference is led by specialist Franz Kremer and organised in partnership with the Cercle Cité and Lëtzebuerg City Museum as part of the temporary exhibitions All you can eat (at the Lëtzebuerg City Museum) and Hors-d’oeuvre (at the Cercle Cité).

Dem Lëtzebuerger säi Léifsten - alles ronderem d'Gromper invites the curious and the potato lovers to discover all the facets and the fascinating history of this vegetable so coveted by the Luxembourgers.

In the program: a brief history of the potato in Luxembourg, a presentation of the varieties grown throughout the country, the various certified plants and practical advice on how to discover the varieties best suited to growing in our gardens.

Franz Kremer is an agricultural engineer specialising in plant protection. Since 2014, he has held the position of research officer and head of the seed and plant certification service at the Administration des services techniques de l’agriculture (ASTA).

About LUGA – Luxembourg Urban Garden is an exhibition of urban gardens, landscape, agricultural and living facilities that will be held from May to October 2025 in Luxembourg. A national Anti-waste and Pesticide Free event organised with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development, the City of Luxembourg, the city of Ettelbrück and in close collaboration with the Fédération Horticole Luxembourgeoise.
