Round-table discussion
In the framework of the "Bijoux d’artistes, de Picasso à Koons. La collection idéale de Diane Venet" exhibition
Although the artists' jewellery in Diane Venet's collection can be considered as works of art in their own right, the inherent relationship between jewellery and the body endows the object with an added and captivating dimension.
Over and above its ornamental role, jewellery becomes a sign of power, membership or distinction, even an extension of the body.
In addition to testifying to great creativity and the diversity of the forms and materials that make up these works, the Cercle Cité exhibition demonstrates that the value of jewellery is not necessarily linked to a noble material and resides equally in the technical expertise and artistry of its creator.
Taking as its point of departure Diane Venet's rich collection, complemented with examples of new creations, particularly those resulting from the work of young art school graduates, the discussion will cover topics such as the artistic approach and jewellery as sensory objects.
Speakers:
Diane Venet
Jean-Marc Dimanche: General Commissioner of the De Mains De Maîtres Luxembourg Biennale
Florence Lehmann: visual artist, teaches Contemporary Jewellery in the Haute École des Arts du Rhin (HEAR – Rhine Higher School of Art)
Anouk Wies: moderator of the round table
