Mardis Littéraires - Jhemp Hoscheit: D’Ouninumm

Once or twice a month, on a Tuesday, the Lëtzebuerg City Bibliothèque offers literary authors the opportunity to present their novels and read excerpts from their works followed by a Q&A and signing session.

Connie might have done better to watch over Mia, then she wouldn’t have fallen off the edge. But she was distracted. Mia’s jokes catapulted her back into her own childhood and brought a repressed, painful memory to the surface. A memory that had long hidden in a dark corner, one she had never truly been able to understand. – Did she cut her hair out of anger to free herself from it? To rid herself of that memory and the Ouninumm forever?

With the support of her therapist and a few trusted individuals, she is now gradually managing to process these traumatic experiences. In this novel, Jhemp Hoscheit approaches a difficult topic with great sensitivity. He not only describes feelings of guilt, friendships, and family relationships but also emphasizes the importance of talking about children's mental health.
