Towards the recovery of the culture sector of Ukraine

Krista PIKKAT, UNESCO’s Director for Culture and Emergencies, will discuss protecting cultural heritage in conflict zones, especially in Ukraine after the 2022 Russian invasion. UNESCO has assessed 274 damaged cultural sites in Ukraine. She will share UNESCO’s recent efforts and partnerships in safeguarding heritage during conflicts, emphasizing the need to verify art object origins to prevent illegal trade. This lecture wants to promote global cooperation to safeguard and preserve cultural heritage for future generations.
