City of Love

Take a stroll through the city to the rhythm and melodies of Poulenc, Chaminade, Baker, Boulanger, Berlioz, Bernstein, and others. A thrilling new program for voice and accordion.

For Franco-Israeli mezzo-soprano Naama Liany, every melody is an opportunity for connection. Hailed as "one of today's most promising singers" by the Dutch site Jonet.nl, Liany's story spans the globe, from her native Israel to New York, through Paris, to her current home in Luxembourg. Her acclaimed programs of 20th-century repertoire span various styles and decades, finding common ground between Milhaud and Gershwin, Mompou and Bernstein. Most importantly, her interpretations and "celestial voice" (CITY) convey the essence of emotions directly to audiences worldwide. "Always sincere, Naama Liany's coppery mezzo expresses multiple facets of the dream between prayer" (Classique News, France).

Her new album Daydream is a striking example, gathering works on the theme of dreams by Samuel Barber, Leonard Bernstein, Federico Mompou, and Albena Petrovic.

Dreams are a fitting subject for Liany, whose parents recall her at the age of four remembering a dream where she sang before a crowd of joyful listeners.

Since then, she has lived this dream many times over, singing at the Alcala Clasicos Para Todos festival in Madrid, the Philharmonie du Luxembourg, the Gdansk Chamber Music Festival, Sofia Classic Weeks in Bulgaria, the De la Musique Avant Toute Chose festival in Paris, the Gstaad New Year Festival in Switzerland, and performing as a soloist in classical works ranging from Bach's Magnificat to Beethoven's Mass in C major.

Liany is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Luxembourg, Kultur LX, BIL Independent Foundation, Keren Ronen, and Keren Hyman Buchman.
