"La Fontaine" is a "Gesamtkunstwerk" that bears the mark of a multitude of influences from the former Netherlands, Italy, France, Spain and Germany. Among the borrowings from Italy, the presentation highlights two that were fundamental for Clausen: the site and the antiquaria. It explains how the patron came to know Italian innovations and how he adapted imported ideas to the local situation, while also showing the personal factors that contributed to the art lover's "Selbstdeterminierung".
