The Embassy of Japan in Luxembourg is thrilled to announce a special concert in collaboration with Cercle Cité featuring the renowned Japanese traditional music ensemble Doppelmond (双月舎 Sogetsu-Sha) for the first time in Luxembourg!

The ensemble Doppelmond invites you on a musical journey to Japan. The Japanese traditional instruments shamisen (spike-lute), koto (half-tube zither) and shakuhachi (bamboo flute), which were given their present form in the 16th and 17th centuries, look back on a long and deeply rooted history. Their sounds are closely linked to Japan's musical tradition, which includes both spiritual and cultural elements.

These instruments not only preserve tradition, but also open up new creative horizons. By fusing these traditional sounds with the innovative flair of contemporary composers, we aim to bring the full potential of this unique sound to the world.

Mieko Miyazaki, a concert shamisen player living in Lyon, Naoko Kikuchi, a renowned koto player from Frankfurt, and the talented shakuhachi player Reison Kuroda from Japan will accompany you on this musical journey together with Tomoya Yokokawa, the director of the ensemble Doppelmond.
