The L.S.G. was founded in 1960 by a handful of forward-thinking and committed farmers. The goal was to produce certified and controlled high-quality seeds to reduce poor harvests and diseases, and to gain independence from foreign sources. In 2020, a new seed station was able to start production. It is the only seed station of its kind in Luxembourg and the most modern in the entire Greater Region.

For over six decades, L.S.G. has been an integral and important part of the Luxembourgish agricultural landscape. Thanks to consistent efforts to always serve its clientele, L.S.G. is known as a supplier of quality seeds far beyond the borders of the Grand Duchy.

Discover the history of LSG with Steve Turmes, who will explain the exciting world of wheat production in Luxembourg. What is the difference between winter wheat and spring wheat? How many square meters of wheat production are there in the country? What is the wheat used for in Luxembourg? All these questions and more will be answered by Steve Turmes.

This conference will be complemented by a presentation by Yves Dieschbourg, director of the Dieschbourg Mill. The Dieschbourg family has been producing flour since 1897 in their water powered mill.

Since the very principle of flour production from wheat and rye has not changed over time, thanks to good maintenance of the machinery, both old and new huskers and mills worked harmoniously side by side from 1897 to 2018.

During this conference, attendees will be able to follow the entire process of wheat, from tiny grain to finished product.
