This year, the Cercle Cité continues its series of screenings of short films and artists' films, which will address different aspects of inclusion, accessibility, integration and discrimination in a philosophical and original way.
These topics are highly debatable in a society that on the one hand is becoming more and more aware of the subject of identity and diversity, but which nevertheless faces difficulties in adapting to this new awareness. Migration and feminism, the search for (artistic) identity, the rights of people with special needs, the rights of people belonging to the LGBTQIA+ group and the challenges of parenthood: the themes linked to these debates are multifaceted and affect many of us.
Verdant mid-summer Minneapolis is the backdrop for this single-day, elliptical docu-fiction, with an ensemble non-actor cast of thirty-something artists facing the realities of work and parenthood.
The early morning sun shines through the windows of an elementary school, where Jacob is mopping a floor. We follow him home, and meet his wife and son. Dinner guests arrive, and tension fills the table as they reflect on the seeming incompatibility of being an artist and a parent.
In the tradition of ethnographic film, the intimate A Blue Morning gently holds space for life’s painful, beautiful limits. A hybrid of narrative and documentary, the film tenderly holds space for the tensions of artisthood and adulthood. Thanks to the non-actors who generously opened themselves up to the production, A Blue Morning is a sincere look at the coming of age of thirty-somethings.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the artist.
Free entrance, without registration.
Food is not allowed in the screening room.
