Round-table discussion
From printed book to digital screen
Is a book only something you hold in your hands, or can it also live on a screen, scroll like a feed, or behave like a website? Where does reading end and viewing begin? And how do artists use books to tell personal stories, experiment with images, materials, and digital tools?
This round table, organized as part of the exhibition ΙΣΤΟΣ | WEB - Contemporary Artists' Books cultural program, explores how artists’ books have evolved—from printed pages and handmade objects to hybrid works that move between paper and screen.
The discussion also opens behind-the-scenes reflections on how libraries and institutions collect, preserve, and present books that exist between object, artwork, and digital file, and on how these experimental practices resonate with the ways we read, scroll, and engage with images today.
